Playing the flute can be a solitary occupation, particularly for adults. Many adults find that their instruments are unused and musical talents forgotten after school or college, when the pressures of careers and family take hold.

Our aim is to give amateur flute players, especially (though not exclusively) adults, a club at which they can meet to play music together and revitalise their skills.

Sessions are held monthly in Didcot, with opportunities to play in large or small ensembles, and making use of the full range of flutes from bass to piccolo.

We aim to improve our playing and understanding of the music by engaging a musical director who will lead rehearsals when appropriate.

We aim to explore a wide repertoire of music from different eras, and to broaden our performing experience through participation in local festivals. As we gain confidence we are starting to give informal recitals, especially at fundraising events.

Phoenix Fledglings is launched in 2015 for less experienced players around Grade 4 or above who would like to play in a friendly, supportive group.

  • Subscription 40 per annum, 5 per single session
